UKCP sent the fourth Polaris tram to St. Petersburg

Ust-Katavsky Car Building Plant (UKCP, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) continues to fulfill the contract for the supply of four fully low-floor three-section two-way trams of the new 71-638-02 Polaris model to St. Petersburg. The last tram from the batch was sent from Ust-Katav to St. Petersburg.

Tram cars of the 71-638-02 model for St. Petersburg have a 100% low floor, two cabins, two–way opening of doors - five on each side, 46 seats for passengers, two seats for passengers with disabilities, including those traveling in a wheelchair. The carriages are also convenient for passengers with baby strollers and for people actively involved in sports. The driver's cabin and the interior of the Polaris tram are equipped with climate control systems.

Tram cars are equipped with on-board navigation and communication equipment, which includes a transport information system, a video recording

and video surveillance system, an all-round view system, an active safety and driver assistance system, a driver health monitoring system, an electronic fare control system, and other elements. All this makes it possible to increase the comfort for passengers and the driver and ensure the safety of trips.

UKCP is popularizing space, which is why the choice of the name "Polaris" for the new tramcar is connected. The North star is the brightest in the constellation Ursa Minor. It is always located above the northern point of the horizon in the Northern Hemisphere, which allows it to be used for orientation on the terrain.

Earlier in 2023, UKCP delivered 14 single-section tramcars with a 100% low floor level to St. Petersburg.
