Lipetsk rolling stock was replenished with 46 single-section trams manufactured by Ust-Katavsky Car Building Plant (JSC UKCP, an enterprise of the State Corporation Roscosmos). Vehicles are being accepted as part of a comprehensive urban electric transport development program.
The models have a 100% low floor level, which will allow all categories of passengers to comfortably use the tram, including people with disabilities and parents with strollers. The vehicle is equipped with several video cameras, two media panels, validators for cashless payment, Wi-Fi and 8 USB charging points. For the convenience of passengers, electronic route designators, auto-information systems and climate control also work in trams.
Traffic safety is ensured by video surveillance and driver condition monitoring systems, as well as a maneuvering assistance system. The last two options have been widely used in UKVZ rolling stock. In international practice, only some models of electric transport of the latest generation have such modifications.
The boarding and disembarkation areas are equipped with external lighting, which provides illumination at night. The wagons are also equipped with modern sliding doors with the widest possible openings and an address door opening system. Due to this, only the door through which boarding and disembarkation takes place opens in the tram, and a comfortable microclimate is maintained in the cabin. The total capacity of the car is 170 people, with 32 seats.
"In 2023, Ust-Katavsky Car Building Plant has already manufactured and sent 28 tram cars to Lipetsk. We hope that the new delivery will further enrich the city's transport system and set a new standard of comfort for passengers," said Roman Novikov, General Director of UKCP. He added that all rolling stock and equipment involved in the renewal of urban electric transport are of domestic production. In terms of quality and technical content, the products are comparable to foreign analogues, and sometimes surpass them. For example, Russian—made rolling stock is cheaper, and the speed of movement is higher.
Earlier, Lipetsk became a participating city in the federal program for the modernization of urban electric transport. As part of the initiative, by the end of 2025, the city plans to reconstruct 40.8 km of tram tracks and build another 5.2 km. The depot will also be repaired in the settlement and the contact network will be modernized. This will allow connecting new neighborhoods of the city with the Left Bank, where large industrial enterprises are located.
